  1. How do I log into Hazmat U?

    All Toyota/Scion/Lexus dealers in the USA have a site license to use Hazmat U training for any StaffMaster-enrolled fixed operations associate. To log into the Hazmat U learning management system, use your dealer code and SPIN ID as follows.

    Dealer Code = Enter Your Five-Digit Dealer Code

    Dealer Code = Re-enter Your Five-Digit Dealer Code

    SPIN Number = Enter Your SPIN Number from the StaffMaster System

    If your dealership has gone through a recent buy/sell, your Hazmat U log-in credentials and training records will be updated with the next database refresh, typically within one week of the change.

  2. How do I pay for a Hazmat U site license for my dealership?

    Hazmat U is Toyota's required dealer standard for HAZMAT training. All dealerships have access to Hazmat U, with an unlimited site license to train any StaffMaster-enrolled fixed operations personnel. Dealer parts accounts are billed a nominal fee of $260/yr (discounted from $299/yr) for these services.

  3. I paid for Hazmat U last year; isn't the training good for 3 years? Why am I being billed again?

    As announced in Dealer communications in August 2008 and September 2009, Dealer parts accounts are billed a nominal fee of $260 annually (discounted from $299/yr) for an unlimited site license. While an individual associate's training is valid for 3 years, DOT regulations require new associates to complete training within 90 days of becoming a hazmat employee.

    Hazmat employee is defined as any associate that loads, unloads, or handles hazardous materials; manufactures, tests, reconditions or repairs hazardous materials packaging; prepares hazardous materials for transportation, or; transports hazardous materials (i.e. delivery of an airbag or seatbelt to a body shop).

    Additionally, function specific training will be required from time to time to ensure that your Dealership's HAZMAT risk management practices integrate with current and future operational requirements in your interaction with Toyota.

  4. How was Hazmat U announced to Toyota and Lexus dealers?

    A packet of information was sent to your dealership through your Area/Regional office in August 2008, September 2009, November 2010 and November 2011. Click any date to view a copy of the letter sent to your dealership.

  5. I have been assigned Hazmat U Administrator responsibilities for my Dealership. Where do I find my Administrators Instruction Guide?

  6. How long is my Hazmat U training certificate good for?

    DOT regulations require you to receive INITIAL training within 90 days of becoming a hazmat employee. DOT requires RECURRING training a minimum of every 3 years. Hazmat U training certificates expire 3 years from date of training completion.

  7. Our dealership already uses a third party training program/provider for HAZMAT training; can we opt-out of Hazmat U?

    While some dealerships already have a HAZMAT program, there is a strong business need for a common, industry-standard training program designed expressly for automotive industry Hazmat shipping and receiving personnel. Hazmat U is a required minimum standard for Hazmat employees who work in Toyota/Scion/Lexus dealerships.

  8. We are a Toyota/Lexus dual dealer; do we have to pay for two site licenses?

    Use of Hazmat U training and administrative tools is based on a dealership site license. For a nominal fee of $245 annually, your Hazmat U site license gives your dealership training privileges for all StaffMaster-enrolled fixed operations associates associated with your dealer code. License fees must be assessed for each unique dealer code.

  9. Will our dealership be able to ship hazmat parts to TMS after completing this training?

    Hazmat U training is the first step to level-up hazmat shipping training within all Toyota/Scion/Lexus dealers. While hazmat parts shipping policy changes are under study, no changes have been implemented yet. Please consult your Region/Area/PD Customer Services Field Manager if you have any questions about current policy.

  10. What do I do if my dealership has an associate who isn’t listed as an authorized user in Hazmat U?

    Only Staff Master-enrolled fixed operations associates are covered under your Hazmat U dealership site license. If you have an associate who does not appear in the Hazmat U Learning Management System, confirm that associate’s StaffMaster credential is active and job-code up to date. Your StaffMaster Administrator can add associates and change jobs codes through the Dealer Daily StaffMaster interface. If you are still having difficulty with a StaffMaster fixed operations associate who does not appear in Hazmat U, please contact Hazmat U support at 1-888-686-4445 or email hazmat@ccar-greenlink.org.

  11. What if I have already purchased training from Hazmat U at the regular price?

    In the event a dealer already has a Hazmat U account, existing training records can be transferred. Any remaining license fee will be pro-rated and the unused balance refunded. Please contact Hazmat U support at 1-888-686-4445 or email hazmat@ccar-greenlink.org to initiate the process.

  12. Will this course certify my parts managers?

    Yes, each person who completes the course by correctly answering at least 80 percent of the questions on the final exam will receive a certificate that complies with 49 CFR (also known as "General Awareness/Function Specific Training").

  13. Where can I get labels, placards, markings and bills of lading?

  14. Will this course certify us to ship UPS and FedEx?

    HYes, this course teaches you how to "ground ship" with UPS and FedEx; however, in order to work with either company, you must complete an application and document your certification.

  15. Is my three-year certification for 49CFR still good?

    Your three-year certification is still valid, but the North American Hazmat Action Committee (NAAHAC) recommends annual training industry-wide. NAAHAC is comprised of representatives from major auto makers, including General Motors, Honda, Ford and Toyota.

  16. What is my shipper identification number?

    There is no a "shipper identification number." A vehicle ID number is required on the Hazardous Materials shipping papers for the transporter.

  17. Does Hazmat U offer a 24-hour emergency hotline number?

    Hazmat U is a training program; the program does not currently offer Emergency Hotline services. There are a number of consulting services that offer this type of service. Following is a list of some of the more prominent services available for this purpose.
